Responsibilities

Responsible for quality assurance of mechanical piping fabrication and erection, with a specialization in high purity and ultra-high purity (HP/UHP) process systems and cleanroom infrastructure. This is a technically demanding role requiring deep familiarity with semiconductor-grade cleanliness standards, orbital welding, and cleanroom construction protocols. Serves as a critical quality interface with the GC, PMC, and specialist sub-contractors.

  • Oversee fabrication and installation quality of HP/UHP piping systems – UPW, CDA, N2, specialty gas, and chemical distribution.
  • Conduct pre-fabrication audits at spool fabrication shops; verify material traceability (heat certificates, mill certs) per ASTM standards.
  • Monitor orbital welding operations — welder/operator qualifications, purging protocols, borescope weld inspection.
  • Review and approve ITPs, WPS/PQR, and welding records for SS 316L, PVDF, and other process pipe materials.
  • Witness hydro/pneumatic pressure tests, helium leak tests, and particle count tests per system flushing protocols.
  • Enforce cleanroom construction protocols — gowning, contamination control, material handling, and surface protection.
  • Track NCRs from identification through verified closure; analyse systemic trends.
  • Coordinate with GC, PMC, process engineers, and move-in teams for CMIA (Construction to Move-In Authorization) milestones.
  •

Key Responsibility

  • Strong understanding of SEMI, ASME, IS and AWS codes
  • Familiarity with orbital welding, manual GTAW for fittings, flanges, and repair welds under controlled conditions
  • Familiarity with Purging and back-purging protocols for stainless steel; oxygen monitoring (<20 ppm)
  • Experience in weld coupon qualification, tensile, bend, and borescope visual inspection criteria
  • Familiarity with thermoplastic welding (IR fusion, socket fusion) for PVDF and PP piping systems
  • Strong coordination skills — experienced in daily interface with GCs, PMC, and third-party inspectors
  • Ability to prepare professional quality reports and management presentation decks
  • Proficient in MS Excel (trackers, pivot tables, charts), PowerPoint, and Word
  • Detail-oriented, assertive in quality enforcement, and composed under schedule pressure.
  • Drive GCs accountability via clarity, technical credibility, documented evidence, and disciplined escalation—not hierarchy.
  • Ability to read process flow diagrams, P&IDs, isometric drawings, and cleanroom layout drawings
  • Quick to learn proprietary commissioning and quality management platforms used on the project
  •

Qualification

B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering

Experience

  • 10+ years in quality for process/mechanical construction – at least 3 years on HP/UHP or cleanroom projects
  • Prior involvement in FAB construction projects (e.g., Micron, Intel, GlobalFoundries, Siltronics etc.), pharmaceutical (ISPE/GMP), or advanced electronics facility preferred.
  • Experience with high-purity piping, gas distribution systems, and vibration-sensitive installations
