Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) is a greenfield venture of the Tata Group with expertise in manufacturing precision components.

Tata Electronics (a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons Pvt. Ltd.) is building India’s first AI-enabled state-of-the-art Semiconductor Foundry. This facility will produce chips for applications such as power management IC, display drivers, microcontrollers (MCU) and high-performance computing logic, addressing the growing demand in markets such as automotive, computing and data storage, wireless communications and artificial intelligence.

Responsibilities:

  • Hands on detailed characterization of key RF building blocks like Switch, LNA, Mixer, Stand alone transistor, VCO, ADC - across voltage, temperature, Impedance conditions
  • Develop detailed char plan including timelines, test coverage, test conditions that can generate insightful relevant data
  • Ensure highest level of data accuracy with rightly calibrated test setup, instruments, test fixtures. Develop de-embedding strategies
  • Analyze characterized data. Derive conclusive insights on setup issues, inconsistencies, device behavior and performance metrics
  • Architect and develop highly efficient automation framework to enable large volume data collection without any gap on data accuracy or setup stability
  • Continuously seek avenues to innovate on test methodology, reducing setup cost, test time improvement, char data management
  • Comprehend device behavior and seek avenues to implement machine learning algorithms to tune device performance
  • Collaborate closely with TD, TCAD, Compact Modelling, DE team to close on simulation to measurement gaps. Ensure efficient and meaningful test coverage. Drive teams to negotiate redundant, duplicate tests
  • Own setup accuracy, readiness, stability. Drive instrument calibration cycle, repair, damaged accessories (cables, connectors, discretes) replacement
  • Present device insights derived from characterized data to internal stake holders. Highlight issues, debugs carried out, resolution strategies
  • Travel – as necessary

 

Essential Attributes:

  • Strong understanding of RF circuit and system concepts, analog concepts, RF Test methodologies, test parameters
  • Hands on experience on RF characterization, debug, impedance matching, calibration, fixture de-embedding
  • Strong understanding of RF transceiver architecture, Gain, NF, Linearity, Stability, Noise Parameters, Impedance matching, coupling, Ft/Fmax, Ron, Coff,
  • Strong understanding and hands on experience on RF instruments like VNA, Spectrum Analyzer, Signal Analyzer, Signal Generator, Impedance Tuners, Device/Parameter Analyzers
  • Expertise to debug setup issues like calibration error, component damage, noise coupling, spurious emission, measurement system contribution, degradation from system dynamic range
  • Strong automation skills using platform like Python, C#, Labview, TestStand, IC-CAP
  • Understanding of RF layout practices, coupling, parasitics
  • Skill on TCAD simulation and device calibration is plus

Qualifications:

  • M.S or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics with 3+ to 10 years of experience
  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics with 7+ to 15 years of experience
  • Strong understanding of RF concepts, system design, Board design
  • Innovation mindset
  • Proven track record of driving high volume characterization followed by production enablement of RF CMOS/BJT technodes
