Summary

The Semiconductor Equipment Engineer will support the sourcing, evaluation, and qualification of equipment used across semiconductor manufacturing processes such as deposition, etching, lithography, and metrology. The role requires a strong technical understanding of semiconductor tools and hands-on experience working with engineering and manufacturing teams. The engineer will assist in supplier evaluation, equipment testing, cost analysis, and ensuring seamless integration of new tools into production operations.

Key Responsibility

1. Semiconductor Equipment Sourcing Support

  • Assist in identifying and evaluating suppliers of semiconductor process equipment.
  • Conduct basic market research to understand available technologies and industry trends.
  • Support the development of a reliable supplier network focused on performance, cost, and quality.

2. Equipment Qualification & Testing

  • Participate in the technical qualification of new equipment to ensure alignment with process requirements.
  • Support engineering teams during equipment performance testing, FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), and SAT (Site Acceptance Test).
  • Work with suppliers and internal teams to ensure smooth equipment installation and ramp-up.

3. Supplier Evaluation

  • Support technical audits and assessments of potential equipment suppliers, including capability reviews and quality checks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide inputs for supplier selection.
  • Assist in maintaining ongoing supplier relationships for upgrades, spare parts, and service support.

4. Cost & CoO Analysis Support

  • Work with sourcing and finance teams to collect data for Total Cost of Ownership (CoO) assessments.
  • Provide technical inputs to commercial sourcing during negotiation of warranties, service contracts, and pricing.
  • Help optimize CapEx decisions by analyzing equipment performance and operational impact.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with process engineering, module engineering, manufacturing, NPI, and maintenance teams to ensure equipment meets operational needs.
  • Support equipment readiness for new processes and technologies.
  • Ensure maintenance and operations teams receive necessary technical documentation and vendor support.

6. Risk & Issue Management

  • Assist in identifying risks related to equipment performance, supplier reliability, and delivery timelines.
  • Support the development of basic mitigation plans such as backup suppliers or contingency schedules.
  • Track and escalate technical or operational issues as required.

7. Technology & Market Awareness

  • Stay updated on semiconductor equipment trends and emerging technologies.
  • Participate in supplier meetings, webinars, and industry events to broaden market knowledge.
  • Provide summaries and insights to internal teams for decision-making.

8. Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure sourced equipment adheres to SEMI, ISO, and safety/environmental requirements.
  • Coordinate with legal, EHS, and compliance teams to support contract approvals and equipment certification.

9. Continuous Improvement

  • Identify improvement opportunities in equipment performance, uptime, and CoO reduction.
  • Work with internal teams and suppliers to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualification

3–5 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, preferably in equipment engineering, supplier management, or process engineering.Familiarity with tools used in deposition, etching, metrology, or lithography is preferred.
