Tata Electronics (a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons Pvt. Ltd.) is building India’s first AI-enabled state-of-the-art Semiconductor Foundry. About the Role

 

The IQC Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all incoming materials, components, packaging materials, and consumables meet defined quality standards and customer requirements before release to production. The role involves incoming inspection, supplier quality monitoring, non-conformance management, and continuous improvement activities to support semiconductor assembly and test operations.

Key Responsibilities

Incoming Material Inspection

  • Perform incoming inspection of raw materials, substrates, leadframes, IC packaging materials, chemicals, adhesives, trays, reels, and consumables.
  • Review supplier Certificates of Analysis (COA), Certificates of Conformance (COC), and inspection reports.
  • Conduct visual, dimensional, and functional inspections using quality tools and measuring equipment.
  • Ensure inspection activities are completed per sampling plans and quality procedures.

Quality Control & Compliance

  • Verify incoming materials comply with customer, regulatory, and internal specifications.
  • Maintain inspection records, quality reports, and traceability documentation.
  • Support ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and EHS compliance requirements.
  • Manage material disposition decisions including acceptance, rejection, and quarantine.

Supplier Quality Management

  • Coordinate with suppliers on quality issues and corrective actions.
  • Participate in supplier audits, qualification, and performance monitoring.
  • Analyze supplier quality data and identify recurring failure trends.
  • Drive supplier continuous improvement initiatives.

Non-Conformance Management

  • Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for rejected materials.
  • Conduct root cause analysis using 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, or similar methodologies.
  • Monitor and verify effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Process Improvement

  • Support yield improvement and defect reduction projects.
  • Utilize SPC, MSA, Pareto analysis, and other quality tools.
  • Participate in quality reviews and cross-functional improvement activities.
  • Drive cost reduction through prevention of incoming material defects.

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in IQC, Quality Assurance, Supplier Quality, or Manufacturing Quality.
  • Experience in semiconductor, OSAT, electronics manufacturing, automotive electronics, EMS, PCB, or SMT industries preferred.
