Job Overview:


The Project Instrumentation Lead is responsible for managing and coordinating all instrumentation and control (I&C) activities within an OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) project. This role involves leading the design, installation, testing, and commissioning of instrumentation systems to ensure precision, reliability, and compliance with project requirements. With 15–20 years of experience in instrumentation and control systems for large-scale industrial or semiconductor projects, the ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and leadership skills to manage multidisciplinary teams and complex systems.  

Key Responsibilities:



1. Instrumentation Design and Development:
• Lead the design and development of instrumentation systems, ensuring alignment with project specifications, client requirements, and industry standards. 
• Review and approve detailed engineering designs, including P&IDs, wiring diagrams, instrument layouts, and specifications. 
• Collaborate with design teams to integrate instrumentation systems with process, mechanical, and electrical systems. 

2. Project Execution and Coordination:
• Plan and oversee the installation, calibration, and testing of all instrumentation and control systems. 
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and other disciplines to ensure seamless execution of instrumentation activities. 
• Monitor project progress and address any technical or operational challenges to maintain timelines and quality. 

3. Technical Supervision and Quality Assurance:
• Conduct technical reviews of instrumentation deliverables, ensuring compliance with design standards and performance criteria. 
• Perform site inspections and quality checks during installation and commissioning phases. 
• Develop and enforce quality assurance protocols for instrumentation systems, including functional testing and validation. 

4. Commissioning and Handover:
• Lead the commissioning and startup of instrumentation systems, ensuring full functionality and performance. 
• Work with the operations team to develop and execute handover plans, including training and documentation. 
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues identified during commissioning to achieve operational readiness. 

5. Documentation and Reporting:
• Prepare and maintain detailed documentation, including technical reports, test protocols, calibration records, and as-built drawings. 
• Provide regular progress updates and reports to project management and stakeholders. 
• Support audits and compliance reviews by supplying required documentation and technical explanations. 

6. Compliance and Safety:
• Ensure all instrumentation activities comply with local regulations, safety standards, and project-specific requirements. 
• Promote a culture of safety by implementing and monitoring adherence to safety protocols. 
• Address environmental and sustainability concerns in the selection and implementation of instrumentation systems. 

7. Stakeholder Engagement:
• Liaise with clients, vendors, and other stakeholders to align on instrumentation requirements and resolve any conflicts. 
• Participate in project meetings and provide expert insights to guide decision-making. 

8. Team Leadership and Mentorship:
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, technicians, and contractors working on instrumentation systems. 
• Foster a collaborative work environment and encourage knowledge sharing among team members. 


 

Qualification

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Advanced training or certifications in instrumentation and control systems are preferred

Experience

  • 15–20 years of experience in instrumentation and control system design, installation, and commissioning, preferably in industrial or semiconductor projects. 
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale, multidisciplinary projects with complex instrumentation requirements. 

 

Certifications (Preferred):

• Certification in instrumentation and control systems (e.g., ISA Certified Automation Professional). 
• PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification is an advantage.
