Job Summary: 

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Automation Engineer with experience in Special Purpose Machines (SPM) for the EMS industry. The candidate must have strong expertise in robot programming (ABB, FANUC, KUKA, EPSON, SODICK, PANASONIC), PLC programming (Mitsubishi, Siemens, Allen Bradley), Vision Systems (Cognex, Jampots), and MES integration. The role demands a strong focus on automation solutions, process improvement, preventive maintenance, and root cause analysis. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop, install, commission, and maintain Special Purpose Machines (SPM) for assembly and testing operations. 

  • Program, troubleshoot, and optimize industrial robots including ABB, FANUC, KUKA, EPSON, SODICK, and PANASONIC. 

  • Design, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs across Mitsubishi, Siemens, and Allen Bradley platforms. 

  • Setup and maintain Vision Systems (Cognex, Jampots) for quality inspection and process control. 

  • Integrate automation equipment with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) for traceability and production data collection. 

  • Perform Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities to ensure maximum equipment uptime. 

  • Manage spare parts inventory for critical automation equipment and ensure timely replenishment. 

  • Execute Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement permanent corrective actions for equipment failures and process issues. 

  • Maintain and create QMS documentation related to equipment (SOPs, PM Checklists, Work Instructions, etc.). 

  • Drive continuous improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing principles and methodologies (Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping). 

  • Support production shifts with immediate troubleshooting and technical support. 

  • Willingness to work in rotational shifts and relocate based on business requirements (initial posting in Vemagal, Bangalore; later relocation to Jorhat, Assam). 

 

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Automation, Robotic Engineering. 

  • 6 years+ of relevant experience in the automation field, preferably in EMS, semiconductor, or automotive sectors. 

 

Key Skills and Competencies: 

  • Robot Programming: ABB, FANUC, KUKA, EPSON, SODICK, PANASONIC 

  • PLC Knowledge: Mitsubishi, Siemens, Allen Bradley 

  • Vision Systems: Cognex, Jampots 

  • MES Integration: System configuration, troubleshooting, and data management 

  • Maintenance: PM activity execution, spare parts planning, and equipment reliability enhancement 

  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills using RCA methods (5-Why, Fishbone diagram, etc.) 

  • Process Improvement: Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and Kaizen methodologies 

  • Documentation: Proficient in preparing technical documentation under QMS standards (ISO9001/ISO14001 preferred) 

  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently and in teams. 

 

Other Requirements :

  • Willing to work in rotational shifts. 

  • Willing to relocate between sites (Bangalore and Assam) as per organizational needs. 

  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
