An ATE (Automated Test Equipment) Test Development Engineer for Digital and Mixed Signal ICs is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing test solutions for integrated circuits (ICs) using automated test equipment. This involves creating test programs, debugging hardware and software, and ensuring high-quality, efficient testing of ICs in both development and production environments.

Key Responsibilities:

 Test Program Development:

  • Creating and optimizing test programs for digital and mixed-signal ICs on ATE platforms like Teradyne (UFLEX, J750) or Advantest (V93000). This includes defining test sequences, specifying measurement parameters, and developing test algorithms.
  • Developing and implementing various test methodologies, including parametric testingfunctional testing, and scan-based testing, to achieve optimal test coverage.
  • Debugging and troubleshooting issues related to the test program, hardware, and test environment, including correlation between different test platforms and correlation to system-level testing.
  • Analyzing test data to identify defects, improve test coverage, and optimize test efficiency. This often involves using statistical analysis tools to identify trends and potential issues.
  • Understanding of Design-for-Test (DFT) techniques, such as scan chain insertion.
  • Experience with statistical data analysis tools (e.g., JMP, Excel).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to debug and troubleshoot complex issues.
    Hardware Development:
  • Designing and implementing load boards, probe cards, and other interfaces to connect the IC to the ATE equipment. This involves understanding signal integrity principles and designing for high-speed and high-density testing.
    Collaboration:
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams, including design, product, and process engineering, to ensure seamless integration of testing into the product development lifecycle.
    Documentation:
  • Creating and maintaining documentation for test procedures, specifications, and configurations.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in developing test programs for digital and mixed-signal ICs on ATE platforms (e.g., Teradyne, Advantest).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++,C# , Python, or scripting languages used for test automation.
  • Familiarity with PCB design, signal integrity, and ATE hardware components.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
