Job Description - Test Development Manager
We are looking for a seasoned Test Development Manager to lead our test Development & Test engineering initiatives across electronics manufacturing. This role requires deep expertise in Automated Test Equipment (ATE) design, test hardware development, LabVIEW software development, and process documentation release. The successful candidate will drive automation, ensure robust test coverage, and lead a team of engineers to deliver high-quality solutions from NPI to high-volume production.
Key Responsibilities
- Test Development & Automation
- Ability to design complex real-time control ATE test systems containing hardware electronics and software applications based on manufacturing test requirements to a high level of quality.
- Responsible for new tester development and debug aligning with new products.
- Work experience to work with customers understand their requirements, select the right Hardware GPIB, Multiplexer cards, Power supplies, Hi-power DC/AC Sources, PXI, Commercial off the shelf hardware and the design/implement the Software.
- Strong understanding and experience of developing software architecture, systems and software engineering process for generation of requirements, design documents, configuration control, and preparation of test plans and user documentation.
- Extensive Hands on experience in developing Test Program for In-circuit test for PCBA (Keysight i3070, TERADYNE Test Station), Functional testers, End of Line( EOL ) tester, Flash programmer, Flying probe Testers, Hi-pot Testers and Custom ATE’s.
- Experience in developing test fixtures and Jigs for ICT , FCT and EOL testers for testing customer PCB /End product
- Expertise in developing Functional testers and its Hardware & software and expertise in Lab View
- Architect and develop ATE systems, including fixtures, load boards, and interface hardware.
- Design and implement LabVIEW-based automated test software.
- Drive automation initiatives to enhance efficiency, repeatability, and scalability.
Leadership & Team Management - Lead and mentor a team of test engineers, fostering innovation and technical excellence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, and quality to align test strategies with product requirements.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and customers on test readiness, results, and improvement plans.
Process & Documentation - Develop, release, and maintain standardized test process documentation.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
- Support smooth NPI-to-HVM transitions with minimal impact on schedules and customers.
Test Execution & Coverage - Oversee ICT (In-Circuit Test), FCT (Functional Test), EOL (End-of-Line Test), and module-level testing.
- Ensure comprehensive test coverage to meet product quality and reliability standards.
- Continuously improve test yield, cycle time, and cost efficiency.
Qualification and desirevl Experience level:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 10–15 years of experience in test engineering and development, with proven leadership in ATE design & Excellent communication skills.
- Hands-on expertise in:
- ATE hardware design (fixtures, load boards, interface hardware).
- LabVIEW software development for automated test systems.
- ICT, FCT, EOL, and module-level testing methodologies.
- Strong background in process documentation release and compliance.
- Demonstrated success in automation and process optimization.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Essential knowledge of LabView, LabVIEW FPGA, VeriStand, TestStand , SystemLink etc.
- Extensive knowledge of Special Purpose Machine development, including automation, robotics, and industrial control.
- Experience in Working with PXI and other NI hardware. Working experience with other T&M Instruments added advantage.
- Knowledge on selection of PLC, I/O Module, Sensors, Scanners, Camera modules.
- LabVIEW certification is a plus.
- Knowledge in communication protocols like CAN, LIN, UDS, XCP etc.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience in OSAT/EMS environments.
- Knowledge of PCB testing flows and test processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on operational readiness and scalability.
- Ability to manage multiple projects across different factory sites.
