Purpose

Responsible for conceptualizing, developing, and validating manufacturing process designs and stage models to meet product and production requirements. The role involves creating 3D models, 2D drawings, tolerance analysis, process development, failure analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturable and cost-effective solutions.

Key Responsibility

 

Product Design & Development

  • Develop and validate manufacturing process concepts based on product requirements.
  • Create detailed process stage designs considering manufacturability and production feasibility.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to define and prioritize process development activities.
  • Release design deliverables through PLM Teamcenter.
  • Work closely with Process Engineers and NC Programmers for process validation.
  • Perform design reviews and support continuous process improvements.

CAD Modeling & Drafting

  • Validate customer inputs through 2D and 3D analysis.
  • Develop detailed 3D process-stage models using Siemens NX (UG NX).
  • Generate manufacturing drawings and documentation using NX CAD and AutoCAD.
  • Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and dimensional validation.
  • Prepare drawings in compliance with ASME Y14.5 standards.

Documentation & Cross Functional Coordination

  • Create process design manuals and engineering documentation.
  • Maintain design records and drawing databases in PLM systems.
  • Develop SOPs, design checklists, and standard work practices.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing, Quality, SCM, and other engineering teams.
  • Support new product development from concept through release.

Failure Analysis & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify dimensional and process-related failures.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
  • Utilize 7 QC tools for data analysis and process improvement.
  • Support yield enhancement and process capability improvements.
  • Participate in Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives.

Dimensioning & Tolerance Engineering

  • Define product geometry and datums using 3-2-1 principles.
  • Conduct tolerance calculations and simulations.
  • Ensure dimensional compliance with customer and manufacturing requirements.
  • Support process capability studies and statistical analysis.

Qualification

Post Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / BE Mechanical Engineering
M.Tech / MS in Product Design preferred

Experience

3 to 8 years of experience in Process Design, Product Design, Tooling Design, or Manufacturing Engineering.

Additional Technical Requirements

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Conceptual design and creative thinking ability.Experience working with cross-functional teams.Knowledge of mass manufacturing processes.Understanding of inspection and quality systems.Exposure to Kaizen and Continuous Improvement methodologies.Basic knowledge of CNC programming.
