Purpose

We are seeking an experienced Mould Design Engineer to lead the design and development of high-precision plastic injection molds. The role is responsible for transforming product concepts into manufacturable tooling solutions, ensuring quality, productivity, cost efficiency, and timely project execution. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in plastic injection mould design, DFM, tooling feasibility studies, and advanced CAD modeling using Siemens NX

Key Responsibility

Mould Design & Development

  • Design and develop injection molds for plastic and insert-molded components from concept to production release.
  • Develop mold concepts considering parting lines, gating systems, runner layouts, cooling circuits, ejection mechanisms, sliders, lifters, and other mold mechanisms.
  • Create complete 3D mold assemblies and component models using Siemens NX.
  • Generate detailed 2D manufacturing drawings with GD&T and tolerance specifications.
  • Perform tooling feasibility studies and manufacturability analysis for new projects.
  • Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis and ensure robust mold functionality.

DFM & Engineering Reviews

  • Prepare detailed DFM reports during RFQ and customer approval stages.
  • Review product designs and provide tooling recommendations to improve manufacturability and quality.
  • Participate in design reviews with cross-functional teams and customers.
  • Support engineering change implementation and maintain design revision control.

Tooling & Process Optimization

  • Evaluate mold performance and recommend design improvements.
  • Support tool trials, validation activities, and process optimization initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot mold-related issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure design compatibility with machining processes such as CNC machining, EDM, wire cutting, grinding, and polishing.

Simulation & Analysis

  • Utilize Moldflow/Moldex3D tools to validate filling, cooling, warpage, and gating performance.
  • Analyze molding challenges and propose optimized tooling solutions.
  • Improve cycle time, part quality, and tooling reliability through simulation-driven design decisions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Product Design, R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Production, and Project Management teams.
  • Interact with customers to understand specifications, design changes, and approvals.
  • Coordinate with standard component suppliers and hot runner vendors for tooling integration.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers.
