Job Summary
The Industrial Engineer is responsible for improving manufacturing efficiency through work measurement, time studies, layout optimization, and lean manufacturing practices. The role focuses on SOP preparation, productivity improvement, bottleneck analysis, capacity planning, and cross‑functional coordination to achieve operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Process & DocumentationPrepare, review, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing and support processes.Develop and update 2D layouts, workstation designs, and process flows using AutoCAD (2D).
- Ensure documentation aligns with safety, quality, and operational standards.Time Study & Productivity ImprovementConduct time studies using standardized tools (MoDApts / MOST or equivalent).Perform work sampling measurements to analyze labor utilization and process effectiveness.Identify bottleneck stations and recommend improvement actions to enhance throughput.Support line balancing and manpower optimization activities.
- Reporting & AnalysisPrepare UPH (Units Per Hour) reports and monitor productivity trends.Conduct downtime analysis using 4M methodology (Man, Machine, Material, Method).Circulate reports and analysis to CFT (Cross‑Functional Team) and Management with actionable insights.Planning & Coordination
- Prepare and manage WIP (Work In Progress) plans, TDM, and Ramp‑up plans.
- Align production plans with internal teams (Production, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering) and external stakeholders as required.
- Support new product introductions and capacity scaling activities.
- Lean Manufacturing & Continuous ImprovementApply Lean Manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and improve flow.Develop Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to identify non‑value‑added activities.Support Kaizen, productivity, and cost‑reduction initiatives.
- Required Skills & KnowledgeBasic to intermediate knowledge of SOP preparationBasic knowledge of AutoCAD (2D)Strong understanding of time study methods and bottleneck analysis
- Knowledge of UPH reporting, downtime analysis, and 4M methodologyExperience with WIP, TDM, and ramp‑up planningBasic understanding of work sampling and Value Stream Mapping
- Hands‑on experience with at least one time study tool: MoDApts or MOSTGood analytical, communication, and coordination skillsEducational
Qualification
Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related disciplinePreferred ExperienceExperience in manufacturing, EMS, automotive, electronics, or high‑volume production environmentsExposure to lean manufacturing or industrial engineering projects
