About the Business:

Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) is a greenfield venture of the Tata Group with expertise in manufacturing precision components.

Tata Electronics (a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons Pvt. Ltd.) is building India’s first AI-enabled state-of-the-art Semiconductor Foundry. This facility will produce chips for applications such as power management IC, display drivers, microcontrollers (MCU) and high-performance computing logic, addressing the growing demand in markets such as automotive, computing and data storage, wireless communications and artificial intelligence.

Responsibilities: 

  • Design and set up SMT production lines aligned with customer and business requirements.
  • Define equipment, layout, throughput, and manpower for new line setups and proposals.
  • Lead equipment selection, CapEx justification, procurement, and installation.
  • Establish process flows, machine programs, and tooling for optimized production.
  • Validate processes through pilot builds and resolve issues before mass production.
  • Drive NPI activities, ensuring smooth transition from development to manufacturing.
  • Coordinate with supply chain, quality, and production teams for line readiness.
  • Oversee ramp-up, improve yield, and optimize performance metrics.
  • Ensure adherence to DFX principles, quality standards, and cost targets.
  • Support early production and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Desired Experience Level:

  • Strong expertise in SMT assembly and PCB manufacturing (printing, pick-and-place, reflow, AOI)
  • Hands-on experience in NPI and production line setup
  • Knowledge of DFX (manufacturability, testability) and process optimization
  • Familiarity with lean practices (5S, Six Sigma)
  • Understanding of supply chain, procurement, and component planning
  • Proficiency in project management and productivity tools
  • Strong analytical skills using Excel/Google Sheets (KPIs, dashboards)
  • High proficiency in MS Office for reporting and documentation
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional coordination

 

Essential Attributes:

  • Experience in EMS or high-volume electronics manufacturing environments
  • Ability to work with global teams across time zones
  • Willingness to travel for customer, supplier, and project engagements
  • Proven ability to manage customer interactions and support business development initiatives
  • Experience in capacity planning, cost modeling, and quote support
